Bakehouse & café, DLF Galleria

Sweet at noon.
Savoury at nine.

A buttercream cinnamon scroll and a pistachio scroll on travertine risers, with a walnut tart, focaccia sandwich, iced latte and matcha alongside.

Where to start

Three, if it's your first time.

01 — Scrolls

The Pistachio Scroll

Enriched dough rolled around a cinnamon sugar filling, so the outer coil crisps and the centre stays soft. Topped with pistachio cream and roasted pistachios. The one people ask for by name.

₹279 Contains pistachio
Rosemary focaccia sandwich cut to show bocconcini, roasted peppers, arugula and marinara.

02 — Focaccia

Caprese Basil Focaccia

Rosemary focaccia, split and layered with fresh bocconcini, basil pesto, tomato, arugula and a balsamic glaze. The lunch order most people settle on and stay with.

₹419 Vegetarian
A walnut tart with a fluted butter-pastry shell and glazed walnut praline top.

03 — Bakes

The Walnut Tart

A short butter-pastry shell filled with walnut praline and glazed until it catches the light. Best with something bitter — a cappuccino, or the Vietnamese iced coffee.

₹239 Contains walnuts

The thing we're known for

Eight scrolls. Two of them savoury.

Not the iced American cinnamon roll — the European kind. Smaller, bread-forward, only lightly sweet, eaten at any hour with coffee. Because the dough is barely sweet to begin with, two of the eight go savoury: marinara and pesto, which almost nobody else in India makes.

All eight scrolls
Two Grata scrolls on travertine risers — one topped with buttercream, one with pistachio cream and chopped pistachios.

Classic

Cinnamon sugar filling, nothing on top. Order this to judge the dough.

₹209Sweet

Buttercream

Smooth buttercream piped along the coil, finished with sea salt.

₹239Sweet

Lemon Curd

House-made lemon curd. Sharp enough to cut straight through the cinnamon.

₹239Sweet

Toffee

Salted caramel glaze, poured so it sets into the grooves of the coil.

₹239Sweet

Pistachio

Pistachio cream and roasted pistachios. The one people ask for by name.

₹279Sweet

Biscoff

Biscoff spread and biscuit crumb, for people who already know.

₹279Sweet

Marinara

Tomato marinara and melted mozzarella layered through the coil. Eats like a meal.

₹249Savoury

Pesto

Basil pesto and mozzarella. Herbal rather than rich — focaccia in another shape.

₹249Savoury
An iced latte in a clear cup, milk still swirling through the coffee, on a travertine riser.

Coffee & drinks

What to drink with it.

Pair by contrast, not by matching. Something bitter next to something sweet, something plain next to something rich. Eight drinks, and these are the four combinations worth knowing.

Biscoff or Toffee scroll
Cappuccino
Both finishes are properly sweet. An espresso-forward cappuccino cuts straight through instead of piling on.
Pistachio scroll
Matcha Latte · ₹269
Matcha is grassy and slightly astringent, which is exactly what a nut cream needs beside it. The best pairing on the menu.
Walnut Tart
Vietnamese Iced Coffee · ₹279
Condensed milk and dark roast against walnut praline. Sweet on sweet, but the coffee is bitter enough underneath to carry it.
Marinara or Pesto scroll
Spanish Latte · ₹289
Savoury and salted needs something sweet and milky rather than sharp. This is the order that makes a savoury scroll feel like a proper sit-down.
All eight drinks

Why we exist

We kept ordering the same thing abroad.

Years of living overseas will give you a short list of things you miss. Ours kept coming back to one item, and it was the one thing we could never find properly once we were home: the scroll.

Not the iced American cinnamon roll — sweet enough to be a dessert and treated like one. The European kind. Bread-forward, only lightly sweet, eaten with coffee at any hour of the day. And because that dough is barely sweet to begin with, two of ours don't go sweet at all.

So Grata is a bakehouse with a signature. Sandwiches, bagels, cheesecakes and coffee, because nobody eats one thing — and the scroll, because it is worth being known for something rather than adequate at everything.
